When registering for CERTA Train-the-trainer courses, individuals must attest they have some torch-use experience. NRCA will offer a half-day course, Basic Rooftop Propane Torch Training, Nov. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. in Elgin, Ill., to ensure CERTA trainers have some proficiency with torch use.
During the course, participants will learn how to perform the basic skills for assembly, testing, lighting and using a roofing torch to adhere polymer-modified bitumen on a mockup; practice the hands-on demonstration of a CERTA applicator class; and identify common torch installation errors and unsafe practices.
Please note: This course is not a CERTA applicator class and is not designed to train someone to be an effective polymer-modified bitumen roof system applicator.
